West Hill House, Warren, Vermont

Peter and Susan MacLaren, a Scot and a Canadian, have been running West Hill House as a Bed & Breakfast since 2005 with eight individually furnished bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, some with Jacuzzis.

West Hill House dates from 1856 when it was a modest farmhouse, but it has been extended and modernised over the years to provide every modern facility and comfort.

Wi-Fi internet access is available, but it can be unreliable, and there’s a computer in the Library which guests may use. In 2008, West Hill House won a “Best B & B Award” in New England for the second successive year.
West Hill has a well stocked library, a snooker room, an enormous plasma television, as well as hundreds of videos and DVD’s which guests may borrow to play in their rooms which all have TV.
Although the MacLarens do not serve dinner in the evenings, there is a well stocked bar where you can leave some money in the box for wine, or beer. Breakfast is Susan’s speciality – fluffy French toast or pancakes with local maple syrup, fruits, eggs any style – and the hospitality, which extends also to their two handsome Hemingway cats with their unusually shaped toes, is very warm.
