Off Piste Skiers Advised to Check Insurance Policies04-09-08
Skiers should check their travel insurance policies before heading off-piste as they may not be covered. That’s the message from the Head of Travel Services at the Post Office, Helen Warburton. She has warned that many travel insurance policies require skiers to be accompanied by an instructor or a qualified guide when going off-piste. She told myfinances.co.uk, ‘Many holidaymakers don’t realise this is a requirement, so we are urging people to check the small print before venturing into unmarked terrain’. Meanwhile, Defaqto’s Mike Powell has warned that many policies do not cover skiers who head into unmarked terrain due to piste closures.
