PingTian Resort Opening Delayed for a Year 10-11-07

Chinese ski resort PingTian has delayed its opening until November 2008. The resort will be situated in the Tianshan Mountain range in the Xinjiang region in northwest China. Resort President & CEO Thomas Ching cited two main reasons for the delay. Firstly, the company who own the resort did not want the resort to open until all the facilities were of the highest quality, and secondly, given the complexity of the project, the permit and approval process has taken longer than originally envisaged.

Once open, the 12,000 acre resort will offer good skiing as well as top class facilities. On the mountain, there are peaks exceeding 10,000 feet, whilst there are vertical drops of 3,600 feet. Meanwhile, facilities include an impressive snowmaking and grooming system, state of the art lifts, a professional ski school and comprehensive patrol and safety systems. Furthermore, the resort will eventually be able to offer five-star accommodation, luxury shopping villages as well as an array of other sports, including a tennis centre, an equestrian centre, full spa facilities and two PGA quality golf courses.
