SeaFrance have published a table highlighting the cost of taking a pair of skis on holiday this winter when flying with a low cost airline. The ferry operator have produced the table to point out the extra cost for taking skis on a flight, the limits on baggage allowances, the penalties for exceeding the baggage limits and the risk of entrusting the airline with your skis. The table referred to six low cost airlines – easyJet, Ryanair, Flybe, Jet2, ThomsonFly and Bmibaby.
The cost of bringing skis on holiday ranges from £30 to £50 amongst the six airlines, whilst some airlines will only carry skis if passengers have prebooked them onto the plane. Furthermore, baggage allowances of 15kg-20kg mean that the extra baggage costs may come into play, ranging from £5 extra per kg, to £12 extra.
SeaFrance, meanwhile, impose no extra baggage charges and are offering ski holidays in Austria, France and Switzerland, with packages starting from £92 per person.
