Ski Club Reveal Positive Forecast 28-10-08

The Ski Club of Great Britain’s annual Snowsports Analysis has predicted an increase in the number of Brits that will take to the slopes this winter. The forecast contradicts general expectations that the credit crunch will limit the number of Brits splashing out on ski holidays. The report claims that 1.35 million Brits will hit the slopes in the coming months, representing a three per cent increase on 2007/08.

The report also suggested that tour operators are in for a good season, with consumers eager to book with Atol-protected agents in case of further airline collapses. Meanwhile, France was said to be the most popular destination amongst British skiers, with a hefty 43 per cent share of the market.

Caroline Stuart-Taylor, Chief Executive of the Ski Club of Great Britain, commented, ‘We are not surprised that the overall snowsports market has risen again after an excellent snow year and the continued resilience of the snowsports market’.
