2,000 Smart car owners gathered at Zell am See for a special Smart car festival at the Austrian resort. The event was held to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the birth of the Smart family with the Smart Fortwo. The event was held in the centre of Pinzgau, with attractions including the ‘Brabus Race Drive’, the ‘Craziest Smart Contest’ and the Acceleration Contest. However, perhaps the most astonishing feat of the weekend was Clemens Krause’s eleven hour journey from Hanover; using just 25 litres of fuel. Mr Krause made the 525 mile journey without using his fan, air conditioning or radio in order to minimize fuel consumption, and never travelled faster than 59mph. Krause managed to average an astonishing consumption of 100 miles per gallon.
