Snowmaking Underway in Colorado 30-10-08

The ski season is a step closer to getting underway in Colorado after several resorts begun snowmaking last week, whilst two resorts opened for the season. Arapahoe Basin were one of the resorts to open last week, with an estimated 3,000 in attendance at their opening day. Loveland Ski also opened last week, having properly begun snowmaking operations on October 4th.

Loveland’s Snowmaking and Trail Maintenance Manager, Eric Johnstone, commented, ‘Our crew has been working hard to make sure we could take advantage of every opportunity to make snow over the last couple of weeks. It finally paid off and we started the lifts with an 18 inch base and tree to tree coverage’. Meanwhile, Director of Business Operations, Rob Goodell, said, ‘The start of the ski season is always an exciting time. We are opening a little bit earlier than anyone expected, but the mountain is ready and we are proud to offer the quality coverage our opening day skiers and riders have come to expect from Loveland’.
