Sun Valley Ski Resort to Build New Gondola 28-06-09
Idaho’s Sun Valley ski resort is to install a new gondola in time for next season. The gondola will operate on the River Run side of Bald Mountain, carrying skiers and boarders from the base of River Run to the Roundhouse half-way up the mountain. The gondola is part of the first phase of the resort’s recently unveiled 50-year Master Plan to manageably upgrade the resort.
Other aspects of the phase one stage of improvements include the construction of the new Guyer Ridge and Seattle Ridge ski trails, a new terrain park on lower Greyhawk, the removal of the exhibition lift and a considerable expansion to the resort’s snowmaking capabilities. Once phase one is complete, improvements in stage two include more new runs, three new quad chairlifts, another new gondola and further improvements to the resort’s snowmaking system.
