Zermatt has announced that it is to host the ‘Infinity Race’ which is being advertised as ‘The World’s Biggest Drop’. The race is to be held on December 14th and is designed to highlight Zermatt’s lift served vertical – the highest lift served point in Europe – and represents a show of confidence from the resort in their early season snow conditions. The race will start from the top of the resort’s lifts at the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at 3,800 metres; from where racers will begin their 2,200 vertical metre descent which finishes in Zermatt itself.
The race is open to all skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers, whilst organisers are running a special family promotion. A participating family will have their overall time divided by three if a child under the age of 12 takes part.
