Having only existed as a ski town separate from Bariloche for 30 years, Cerro Catedral is now most of the way through its modernisation program with its initial 3 year plan finished in 2007.
There is a modern shopping mall at the bottom of the lifts and the village itself has been extended to include a hotels and restaurants making it possible to stay here rather than commuting from Bariloche each morning and back in the evenings. The Village is quaint with Alpine style buildings, entirely concentrated on skiing and all the slopes are 5 minutes walk away. There are 2 large free car parks and a shuttle service to Bariloche every ½ hour.
The Amancay complex at the base of the hill is the newest complex with all the administration for the resort now based here. It is possible to complete everything from ski rental to booking guides and lift passes in this complex.
