Au-Schoppernau Accommodation
In this respect Bregenzerwald punches well above its weight, both in terms of quality and price, as standards of accommodation are very high indeed, yet prices are noticeably cheaper than like comparable accommodation in better known ski resorts.
There are half a dozen hotels in Au, five of which are 4-star. The 4-star Hotel Gasthof Adler overlooking the church is newly built in contemporary style with good wellness facilities. A little further along the road heading back towards the centre of Au, is the more traditional 4-star Hotel Pension Rössle, owned by the same family.
The 4-star Hotel Krone next to the church has long been a well-run family hotel. Recently renovated throughout at considerable expense it is now an impressive 4-star hotel with stylish, tasteful modern interior design and a seriously impressive 500m² Sky Spa occupying the upper two floors with loads of wow factor and incredible views. The Ski Spa alone is good enough reason to stay here.
The 4-star Hotel Am Holand is situated half way between Au and Schoppernau and at the far end of a narrow twisting access road, and has successfully doubled in size with an attractive new extension which is in keeping with the original rustic am Holand building. The 4-star Hotel Alpenrose is comfortable and next level down, there’s the 3-star Hotel Post which is convienently situated in the centre of Au right next to the main ski bus stop.
Schoppernau offers a similarly good choice of hotels. Favourites include the 4-star Hirschen Wohlfűhl Hotel, tasteful and traditional old style but now including an impressive wellness area and swimming pool, the 4-star Hotel Adler Gasthof and the Hotel Wirtshaus zum Gämsle, a listed building built entirely from wood and 4-star in standard although not officially rated so.
Higher up overlooking the village of Schoppernau, the unusually named Erlebnisreich Natter Hotel is a comfortable 3 star hotel with a more modern interior design style, sauna and steam room and an especially well-equipped playroom for children.
