Damuls-Mellau Ski Resort

Daműls is approximately 2 hours transfer from either Zurich or Friedrichshafen airports, making it an easily reached ski destination and convenient for weekend skiing. On the other side of a valley is the village Mellau, with its own ski area, which will be linked to Daműls in 2010 by a new 8-person gondola.
Daműls attracts skiers and boarders mostly from Switzerland, Germany, France and Benelux and claims to be one of the most snow sure villages in Austria. Getting there is easy, flying in via Zurich or Friedrichshafen and it's possible to ski same day as you fly.
Daműls is best for families, couples and mixed ability groups, rather than 18-30 year olds and late night party goers. Daműls village is small and built around a pretty church at an altitude of 1431m. The ski area rises to just over 2000m and includes attractive ski-in, ski-out accommodation high in the ski area as well as lower down near the village.
Other ski areas nearby include Au-Schoppernau (Diedamskopf) and Warth-Schröcken, which are covered by the same Bregenzerwald lift pass and easily reached using the free ski bus. Together, Daműls-Mellau. Warth-Schröcken and Au-Schoppernau (Diedamskopf) have around 200km of varied skiing.

Ski Area
Situated in south western part of Bregenzerwald, Daműls has 64km of well-groomed pistes which are forgiving for beginners and fun for intermediates who enjoy skiing fast undulating blue and red runs. Lift System
The Daműls ski lift system includes 13 mostly modern high speed chairlifts with a further 6 ski lifts at Mellau and a total lift capacity of more than 30,000 riders per hour.

Ski Schools & Guiding
Daműls Ski School is situated in a small wooden chalet building immediately to the left of Walliser Stube Hotel, close to the 4-SB UGA chair lift and a special area for children and novices.

Advanced Skiing
Good skiers can easily ski Daműls on-piste and the marked ski routes in a day or two, but there’s also plenty of opportunity for good skiing between pistes which opens up many more freeriding opportunities for advanced skiers who enjoy skiing off-piste.

Off the Mountain
Village
Daműls is a pretty village built beneath and around a hilltop church. There are some good hotels in the village centre and lots more ski-in, ski-out accommodation higher up in the ski area.

Apres Ski
Daműls après ski is an especially low key affair mainly in hotels and just a few bars. The majority of guests are content to chillout in their hotels, many of which are dotted around the ski area, so there’s nothing much happening late at night in Daműls.

Other Information
Besides skiing and boarding, Daműls winter sports facilities include an adventurous toboggan run, cross-country skiing and winter walking throughout the ski area, but winter sports activities aside there’s not much else to do in Daműls.

Getting There
Daműls is easily reached in under 2-hours by car from either Zurich or Friedrichshafen airports to Bregenzerwald. Book an early morning flight into Zurich and you can plan on arriving at your hotel in time for lunch and ski same day.
