Damuls-Mellau Ski Resort

Daműls-Mellau is a family-friendly ski area above two villages, Daműls and Mellau, offering good value accommodation including ski-in, ski-out hotels and good skiing for all ability levels. Best for intermediates who will enjoy wide, well-groomed slopes and easy off-piste skiing between the marked runs.

Daműls-Mellau is best for families, couples and mixed ability groups, rather than 18-30 year olds and late night party goers. Guests come mostly from Switzerland, Germany, France and Benelux, and increasingly from the UK.

Getting there is easy in less than 2 hours from either Zurich or Menningen airports, making it a convenient ski destination for weekend skiing and it’s possible to ski same day as you fly.

Originally separate, the two ski areas were
connected in 2009 by a new high speed 8-person gondola, making Daműls-Mellau the biggest ski area in Bregenzerwald wit skiing from 200m down to 690m.

Situated on the south side of the ski area at an altitude of 1431m, Daműls is a small village built around a pretty church and is one of the most snow sure villages in Austria. Mellau, which is the bigger of the two villages, is situated on the opposite side of the ski area at a lower altitude of 690m above sea level and about 20km from Daműls. There's
accommodation to suit all budgets including ski-in, ski-out hotels at Daműls.

Other ski areas nearby include Au-Schoppernau (Diedamskopf) and Warth-Schröcken, which are covered by the same Bregenzerwald lift pass and easily reached using the free ski bus. Together, Daműls-Mellau,
Au-Schoppernau (Diedamskopf) and Warth-Schröcken have around 200km of well groomed piste skiing.
