Lake Louise has many outdoor activities, and Banff is a good place to shop for Native and Inuit arts and crafts.

A host of outdoor activities are available at Lake Louise including cross-country, snowshoeing, ice walks, dog-sledding, skating, sleighrides, spas, and hot springs. Off-mountain there are plenty of family-oriented activities including swimming, bowling alleys, movie theaters, and shopping. Gym and pool facilities are available at various hotels.

Shopping in Banff ranges from fashionwear to native crafts and specialty boutiques, along with the larger malls. Lake Louise has its own Samson Mall for shoppers. Art galleries and craft shops showcase Inuit, wildlife, landscape, and Native art along with ceramics and jewelry. There are also several museums and national historic sites in the neighborhood that highlight the natural history and man made heritage of the Rockies.
