The 2010 Winter Olympics are fast approaching and the boom in this town has never been bigger. Bookings are going up as fast as the buildings, and inevitably, so are the prices. While being far from a 'budget' resort’, good value deals are still available in the shoulder season and non-peak periods.

The ski season in Whistler-Blackcomb runs from late November until early June and snowfall averages 402 inches (33.5 feet/10.22 metres) per year, supplemented by extensive state-of-the-art snowmaking facilities over the main runs and the ski outs. Whilst the amount of snowfall in Whistler is rarely in question, the relatively low altitude of the village I (2,142 feet/653 metres) and its coastal proximity means rain can fall in the village and lower mountain. However, the freezing level rarely rises into the upper mountain where the powder is plentiful; the only wet part of the day is the first chair and the ski out when the day is over.
