Courchevel Village

Courchevel 1850 is the pulse of the resort; 1650 and La Tania are quieter and prettier, but not as centrally located.

Courchevel 1850 is the pulse of the resort and has recently been trying to improve the appearance of some of the less aesthetic purpose-built buildings by adding wood cladding. Many of the top hotels fringe the pistes and there is a large chalet village to the right of the resort centre underneath the Plantrey chair. There are some stunning chalets and hotels, including Byblos (which has a sister hotel in St Tropez) and Le Mélézin. There are 15 four star hotels in all including 9 which are deluxe (the French equivalent of five star). 1650 is quieter and prettier with a few nice bars but is not as centrally located for the ski area.

La Tania, Courchevel 1550 and La Praz
La Tania, almost halfway along the road to Méribel, is a purpose-built resort in the modern tradition. Think lots of wood and glass, ski-in ski-out accommodation and car-free centres and is a quieter, cheaper family-friendly alternative to 1850. Courchevel 1550 is little more than a cheap accommodation centre with two lifts feeding into 1850. La Praz is a reasonably charming old village whose chief claim to fame is the Olympic ski jump from the 1992 Savoie Olympics.
