Meribel Ski Resort

Méribel is at the heart of one of the world's most impressive lift-linked network of pistes and skiable terrain. Nowhere else can quite match the 370 miles (600 km) and 200 lifts of the Three Valleys for the convenience, breadth and depth of skiing and Méribel sits snugly in the central valley. The pistes and runs are clearly sign-posted and, although it's not entirely clear from the piste map, it's possible to navigate the three valleys entirely on green runs.
The chalet style of Méribel has been meticulously preserved and is a fine example of a purpose built ski resort. Méribel was conceived by Colonel Peter Lindsay in 1938 and the British legacy is still strong with 38% of winter visitors coming from the UK.
The piste layout is similarly well conceived and groomed - there are 60 lifts and 600 snow guns in the Méribel valley alone - and there's an on-going program of improvement.

Ski area
Most of the Méribel skiing area is above the tree-line and extremely well inter-connected. Whether some of the red runs should be graded blue and vice versa is debatable but this doesn't detract from the skiing in the slightest.
