Val D Isere Getting There

Val d'Isère is located at the far end of the Tarentaise valley on the Iseran road. In centuries gone by, it was “like going to the end of the world” to reach the final stages of this then remote valley. Today the transfer from Chambéry airport takes 2 hours and 2½ hours from Lyon St. Exupery, while Geneva international airport is 3 hours away. There is a regular daily bus service from Geneva and Lyon airports, and a Saturday service from Chambéry (a return ticket must be booked at the airport). Bourg St. Maurice, the last town on the valley floor before the road climbs up towards Val d'Isère and , has a rail terminal, and there’s a regular bus service from there to the ski resort (30km). The nearby ski resorts of Tignes and Sainte Foy are within easy reach by car.
