Mountain restaurants are Val d’Isère’s one weakness.

Val d’Isère’s one weakness - there are some very good mountain restaurants above the ski resort, but not enough in such a vast ski area. However, if you plan your day carefully and reserve your table in advance, it is possible to eat and drink pretty well on the mountain. Of particular note are Le Signal at the half-way station above Le Fornet, Le Trifollet on the OK descent to La Daille and, last but not least, the great Tufs.at the bottom at La Daille.. By consensus, La Fruitière, the table-service restaurant at the top of the La Daille gondola, is the best – a gets the best reviews and is a far superior version of the self-service La Folie Douce next door. The L’Edelweiss which opened in 2003/2004 at the Fornet on the Mangard piste back to theLe Fornet, is an attractive chalet-style restaurant with a remarkable view of the village. The food at La Tanière on the Bellevarde Face in the middle of the Olympic downhill run, is also recommended. Les Clochetons in the Manchet Valley is a good lunch spot for skiers returning from the Santons piste area.

The various self-service restaurants on the mountainside are variable in quality and a few are downright disappointing.
There are plenty of lunchtime options as well in the resort village. The Bar des Sports in the Brussels square is one of the liveliest venues for good honest French food at reasonable prices. On a white day, you will have to fight for a table there.
