Monterosa Getting There

For Gressoney and Champoluc the nearest airport is Turin Caselle International Airport from where it’s a little over one hour by road to Gressoney and one and a half hours to Champoluc. Milan’s Malpensa airport is about two hours by road to Alagna and Gressoney, and two and a half hours to Champoluc.

Nearest airports to Monterosa ski resorts

The most convenient airport for both Gressoney and Champoluc is Turin Caselle, and many airlines including BA, Easy Jet and Ryan Air, fly there. Milan’s Malpensa airport is about 2 hours by road from Alagna, Gressoney and Champoluc. Though the journey is longer, Geneva is also possible for Champoluc and Gressoney, and Bergamo for Alagna.

Getting to Monterosa by car
Hiring a car to get from the airport to Monterosa is a useful option, particularly if staying in Gressoney, as some accommodation is
several kilometres from the ski area and the ski lifts. Snow chains or winter tyres should be booked in advance.

For Gressoney and Champoluc, road access is via the Aosta Valley A5 toll motorway. The Gressoney exit is Pont St Martin and the Champoluc exit is Verres. Alagna is reached via Borgosesia, with a significantly longer section of mountain approach road. Day trips, by road, to other resorts are not a practical option from here.

Getting to Monterosa from the airport by public transport
There is a limited bus service from both Milan and Turin airport to Champoluc and Gressoney, but changes are involved and services do not run late at night. See www.savda.it for timetables. Though Alagna can also be reached by bus from Turin, Milan and Malpensa airport, the service is limited and changes are involved (Novara/Varallo). There are train stations in Verres for Champoluc, Pont St Martin for Gressoney, and Varallo for Alagna. Onward buses to the resorts operate from these stations.
