Verbier Accommodation

There are 15,000 guest beds in total, making Verbier one of the biggest Swiss resorts in terms of visitor numbers, as well as size of ski domain. The the resort grumbles about the proportion of privately owned property, though, much of which remains empty for most of the year and therefore doesn’t contribute much – relatively – to the local economy.
Of Verbier's hotels, the five-star Chalet de L'Adrien by the Savoleyres lift is the plushest place in town. More modest but comfortable and well located is the Hotel Hermitage on the town square – one of several in this location that offers a comfortable (usually small) room, a good breakfast and reasonable half board. With any central accommodation it’s pot-luck whether street noise (of the 4am après-ski variety) is an issue.
At the other end of the scale, out to the west of Verbier town centre is a bunk house in the sports centre – the perfect budget option for young freeriders; use of the swimming pool is an extra enticement if the chance to sleep in a former nuclear shelter doesn’t clinch it. Almost wherever you stay, a morning bus ride or hike uphill to the main lifts is part of the package. It’s less of an issue on the way home as it’s all downhill and there are several obligatory après-ski stops along the main drag.
