Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole has one ski and snowboard school, which also teaches Nordic skiing. Normal hours are 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, although some classes make use of the early tram at 8.30 am. Group size is often from three to five people, but can reach over ten during peak times. You don't have to take lessons for getting to know your way around: there is a free tour of the mountain starting from the Host building every day at 9.30 am.  

With the serious terrain on offer, Jackson attracts specialist ski camps, including women only and steep and deep clinics. Guides can also be hired to take you into the backcountry in groups of up to five people.

There is a daycare facility at Jackson Hole Kids’ Ranch for children aged from six months to three years, and a kids’ ski school for children aged 3–14. Supervision of young children during lunchtime is part of the package if they are enrolled for a full day.

Mountain Guiding

Beyond the in-bounds ski area there are thousands of acres of backcountry and unlike most other US ski resorts JHMR allows access to the backcountry and European style off-piste skiing and boarding via a series of perimeter gates.

Mountain guiding services from some of the North America’s most experienced backcountry skiers are offered by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Guides and independent Exum Mountain Guides and JH Mountain Guides.

The vast majority of guests wanting guided backcountry experience in Jackson Hole will use JHMR guides. Exum and JH Mountain Guides guided tours typically involving much more extreme terrain which will be off limits to 99% of guests.

Snow science and safety courses, ski touring and downhill off-piste skiing and boarding are offered together with tuition to enable you to improve your off-piste technique while exploring the backcountry and learning how to travel safely as a group.
