Park City

For beginners, Park City has two designated slow-skiing areas made up entirely of green trails, one at the base of the mountain and the other off the Silverlode express lift.

Beginners are lucky at Park City, as the longest trail on the mountain is a green trail, the 3.5-mile (5.5-km) Homerun. It is quite wide and flat and always well groomed. Up to now beginners have been advised to avoid the Homerun slow-skiing zone at the end of the day as all the other skiers came zooming through on their way home, but for 2003 the Homerun trail is being reconfigured and will be patrolled as a slow, family-oriented skiing and riding zone.

There are two beginner areas, both designated slow-skiing zones and made up entirely of green trails. One is at the base of the mountain with three lifts (First Time triple chair, Three Kings double chair, and a Magic Carpet) and the other is from the Silverlode six-passenger express lift. Beginners can in fact go up to the top of the mountain and ski all the way to the bottom on green trails. Take the PayDay six-passenger express and then the Bonanza six-passenger express to the summit and ski down Homerun all the way to the base, or take Claim Jumper to the base of the Silverload six-passenger express lift. There are more green trails on the east side of the mountain off the Bonanza six-passenger express chair.
