Winter Park Ski Resort getting there

Just 67 miles (108 km) west of Denver, Winter Park is Colorado’s commutable resort, and as it’s reachable by car, bus and railroad, it can get very busy at weekends. It’s tucked away at the base of the Continental Divide in the Arapahoe National Forest, below Berthoud Pass. From Denver International Airport (D.I.A.) it’s roughly a one- to two-hour drive to cover the 85 miles (136 km). Alternatively you can travel by rail on Amtrak’s Californian Zephyr with services from Chicago, Omaha, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Salt Lake City. On-board sleeping accommodations are also available.

Winter Park is the only U.S. resort with direct rail access downtown. From Denver’s Union Station the Ski Train that runs every weekend from mid-December to March takes approximately two hours directly to the base of the slopes.
