Soldeu
From its two lifts TSD6 Soldeu or TC8 Soldeu, it’s possible to get up into the middle of the Grandvalira ski area quickly where you have a ski area extending some 193 km of runs between the six Andorran villages - Pas de la Casa Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp - and 930m vertical (2,640m – 1,710m).

Historically, the six village resorts that make up the “Grand Valley” were unable or unwilling to cooperate with each other meaning that, potentially, you needed a different pass for Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp.

Lift system
All the ski lifts in Grandvalira have both a code and a name. There are 64 ski lifts – 1 funitel (twin cable car), 3 cable cars, 14 detachable high-speed chair lifts, 16 fixe grip chair lifts, 16 ski lifts, 9 overhead cable lifts and 5 magic carpets with a combined transport capacity of the 99,600 skiers per hour.

Ski schools & guiding
Across Grandvalira there are now 450 instructors working in its six centres - Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp – so you’ll have no problem finding ski instructors or ski guides who speak the three official languages of Andorra (French, Spanish and Catalan) plus English of course.

Nearly two thirds of Grandvalira region is intermediate blue and red run skiing with a total of 38 blue runs and 32 red, of which thirteen blue eight and red runs are in the Soldeu sector which is the most centrally convenient base in Grandvalira and best for intermediates.

Traditionally Andorrans eat out in bordas (farmhouse restaurants) but there are few of these left in the resorts. Much more typical is The Villager behind the cable car station which offers essentially British fare (chips) and other delicacies (like chilli) perceived to be British.
