There is a wide range of accommodation options in cosmopolitan Lech, convenient Zürs or ski-in, ski-out Oberlech.

There are 291 hotels and pensions in Lech and 18 in Zürs, with 6,987 and 1,503 guest beds respectively. The line-up of six 5-star hotels, forty-nine 4-star hotels and thirty-two 3-star hotels is impressive.

Grandest in Lech is the traditional 5-star Gasthof Post (jacket and tie compulsory for dinner) closely followed by the Arlberg and the more contemporary Almhof Schneider while over in Zürs top of the tree are Thurnhers Alpenhof, Sporthotel Lorünser and the Zürserhof hotels. As you would expect at this level each hotel has its own quite distinct personality and preference within this category is a matter of personal taste in terms of décor, formality and scale as well as convenience factors.

Next level down in Lech is a terrific selection of 4-star properties such as the stylish Hotel Kristiania – modern interior and vibrant colours, the homely Aurora – traditional pinks and greens, the Hotel Krone – more traditional and the Hotel Tannbergerhof – convenient and lively atmosphere; all of which are recommended, but quite different in style. Gasthof Rote Wand in Zug and Goldener Berg in Oberlech are both highly recommended if you do not mind an out of town location and our 4-star favourite in Zürs is the Sporthotel Edelweiss.

Over 25 million Euros has been spent upgrading the lift system, infrastructure and many of the hotels, with the aim of improving quality rather than adding more beds – and it shows. If you book early you can still find bed and breakfast accommodation from 40-50 Euros per night, but you need to be quick off the mark. Christmas is very busy in Lech-Zürs and even the traditionally quieter weeks in mid-January are now increasingly popular with Russian guests, whose Orthodox new year falls after the western new year.

Guests staying in Oberlech can make use of the bus service running the 15-minute journey between Oberlech Schlossle and Lech Rufiplatz at regular intervals from 7:15 am until 7:00pm; the Bergbahn Lech-Oberlech cable car is open to skiers from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm and until 1:00 am for après-skiers after a night out in Lech.

To narrow your search, decide first whether you want the (relatively) cosmopolitan centre of Lech, the convenience of Zürs or the ultimate ski-in, ski-out accommodation at Oberlech.
