Lech-Zurs Ski Resort ski area

Lech-Zurs / Ski area

Lech-Zürs offers excellent skiing for all levels from beginner to expert including extreme ski routes and high alpine touring runs.
Groomed pistes in Lech-Zürs cover 117 km (72 miles) out of a total 276 km (171 miles) marked runs in the Arlberg ski region and are mostly intermediate and beginner runs. Besides 15 blue, 19 red and 1 black run, Lech-Zürs ski area includes 13 ski routes, 8 extreme ski routes and 7 high alpine touring runs. Of the two villages Zürs has the edge for beginners while the Lech and Oberlech area are more appealing to intermediates, but beginner skiers and boarders are well catered for by ski schools in Lech, Oberlech and Zürs.

Although the Arlberg’s more obviously tough terrain is mostly high above St Anton and Stuben, Lech-Zürs is no push over for those in the know and because proportionately there are generally fewer advanced skiers and boarders, the off-piste does not get tracked so quickly.
Strong skiers and boarders are spoiled for choice off-piste in the Arlberg and conditions permitting there’s even heli-skiing available, but to find the best slopes you will need a guide.

The villages Lech, Oberlech, Zürs, and Zug are well-connected by an efficient lift system and by the White Ring ("Der Weisse Ring") route, a 14 mile (22 km) all-on-piste clockwise-only circuit of red and blue runs, that links the entire Lech-Zürs and which is a great fun itinerary in fine weather. It’s well groomed most of the way with blue and red options for confident beginners and intermediate skiers and not so many ‘flats’ so its snowboarder friendly. The outside bar at Palmenalpe at the top of the Zugerberg lift is a fun place to break for a pit stop before heading over to Oberlech and finding a suitable sun terrace at one of the excellent ski-in ski-out hotel mountain restaurants for lunch.

It is rumoured that Lech will one day be connected by a new lift to the ski area of Warth, but nothing is agreed nor are there any firm plans to do so.

St Anton am Arlberg

If staying in Lech-Zürs a day trip to St. Anton is a must if you have not skied there before and breaking for lunch at Hospiz Alm in St Christoph is highly recommended.
