Snow Academy offers the complete service for both boarders and skiers and has a reputation for being reliable. They have instructors for all types of snow including an off-piste package and a moguls course. The company owns a tractor with a seating train which drives round the village to pick up the children for the junior courses and offer rental services and tuning services. Worth noting is their excellent child ski service called ‘clown school’ which is specially designed for younger children and offers both childcare and the very basics of skiing. For groups, one day’s lessons cost around €59, three days come to €138 and it costs € 157 for 4-6 days. Their English website is www.snowacademy.com/html/en/index.asp

Hinterglemm
Active offers a good range of services, with an awareness of the differing abilities of the skiers they are likely to encounter. From intensive courses for adults to specialised beginner’s programmes, Active is a good option for families travelling to Saalbach who have a variety of needs. Their beginners’ package comes with an inclusive option of equipment rental, whilst there is also the option of a special child care lunch. Active also offer a choice between group or private tuition. Snowboarding lessons are available, with a variety of tuition options available, though Active doesn’t target the snowboarding audience as specifically as Board.at.

Snow and Fun is the best Hinterglemm-based ski school for snowboarders, but is equally capable of dealing with skiers. Snow and Fun offer an excellent specialist programme for children in the shape of their Mini-Clown-World. This landscape, situated next to the ski resorts, offers children a snowy playground ensuring a combination of fun and learning. Whilst excellent for children, beginners would be better off opting for another ski school as group tuition for beginners is only available on Sundays and Mondays, and whilst private tuition is on offer throughout the week, those on a budget may struggle to keep up with the cost. Ski tours are also available for more advanced skiers. Snow and Fun is also very good for snowboarders, with a new 72 meter conveyor belt designed to assist beginners’ learning experience, whilst more advanced boarders will enjoy the direct transport on offer to the fun park.
