Although the resort claims in excess of 40% of its runs are
suitable for novices, actually getting to them is not always so easy.
Apart from some nursery slopes between the main road in Söll and the
base area (bottom of the gondola station), the main beginner runs are
clustered around a plateau at Hochsöll (half way between the base area
and Hohe Salve). There are also some good runs for beginners at the top
station of the gondola in Scheffau, and more still “up and over” the
Hohe Salve peak on the slopes high above Brixen and Hopfgarten. But
these are quite hard to get to from Söll – there is no easy way down to
reach them from the top of the Hohe Salve gondola. There’s another
extensive cluster of easy runs at Brandstadl (1650 m), including a
wonderful long blue run down all the way down to Blaiken on the
outskirts of Scheffau.
