Ski Guide Soll

The Ski Welt offers an ideal pastoral opportunity for advancing beginners and early intermediates to enjoy the thrill of being ‘on the road’ rather than exploring just one resort.
There are few surprises as you ski from one resort to the next, so this is an ideal pastoral opportunity for advancing beginners and intermediate skiers to enjoy the thrill of being ‘on the road’ rather than exploring just one resort. But it’s well worth remembering your route and consulting the piste map from time to time. You could do worse than treat your first day as a “reccy” to get your bearings before returning for further exploration. There are two principal routes, although you can mix and match: the Salven circuit via Brixen, Hopfgarten, Itter and Söll. And the Kaiser Route, via Brixen, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going. The 250 km of connected pistes are mainly suitable for intermediates. There is also a wide selection of runs for beginner skiers – and a few for experts too. With a scattering of steeper black runs, like the descent from Söll’s Hohe Salve at 6,000 feet (1829 metres) stronger intermediates and more advanced skiers will find sufficient to keep them amused too – not least the scenery, with stirring views of the craggy Wilder Kaiser peaks to the north, and the Kitzbüheler Alps to the south. And just for a bit of fun, a new souvenir shop at the mid-station in Hochsöll has been designed to resemble a witches’ cauldron!
