Overall the standard is quite good. Visit St. Christoph for lunch (or
dinner) at the wonderful Hospiz Alm with its famous big bottle wine
cellar. En route down to St. Anton the Zennhütte, a typical Tirolean
hut, offers wholesome food and excellent atmosphere. The Mooserwirt,
famous for its après-ski and supposedly one of the busiest and most
profitable bars in the Alps, also has good food at lunchtime.
The Ulmer Hütte is a particularly popular quick lunch option and a delightful spot to enjoy a drink in the sun. A day skiing in Stuben should include a visit to the Berghaus Stuben where friendly service awaits you. En route to Nasserein along the home trail from Gampen is the popular but not so easy to find Rodelhütte, with Tirolean style food in a rustic alpine atmosphere.
The places to avoid are the self-service restaurants in each of the main lift stations at Gampen, Galzig and Rendl, unless all you’re trying to do is refuel in which case the food is acceptable and the impersonal atmosphere not such a problem.
