Stuben am Arlberg

With around 12 meters of snow each winter – more than St Anton, Lech and Zűrs – Stuben is the powder capital of the Arlberg and a gateway to some of best off-piste skiing in the Arlberg on slopes that remain untracked and in good condition for long after the last snowfall.

The smallest of five ski resorts – the others are St Anton , St Christoph , Lech and Zűrs – Stuben am Arlberg is a quiet village that prides itself on traditional Austrian hospitality, good value for money and a long ski season from early December until May.

Ski Area

Stuben’s predominantly north-facing Albona includes some of the best skiing in the Arlberg and easy access to the entire Arlberg ski area – 85 ski lifts, 280km of pistes and about 180km off-piste – including St Anton and Lech-Zűrs. more...

Lift System

Stuben’s ski lifts run from late November until early May. The Arlberg ski lift ticket covers all 85 ski lifts in St Anton, St Christoph, Stuben, Lech-Zűrs and Sonnenkopf, which is a separate family friendly ski area above Klösterle, 5km to the west of Stuben. more...

Ski Schools & Guiding

The Schischule Stuben offers ski and snowboard instruction 6-days per week including guiding off-piste. The privately owned Arlberg Alpin also offers freeride guiding and touring.

Advanced

There are great opportunities for advanced skiers to ski off-piste in Stuben. The better you are, the better it gets, but be prepared to hire a guide and to boot pack or use skins to reach some of the best terrain.

Intermediate

Centrally situated and a gateway to the Arlberg, Stuben am Arlberg is a convenient village base for good quality skiing on the Albona and for easily exploring the entire Arlberg ski area – St Anton, St Christoph, Lech-Zűrs and family friendly Sonnenkopf.

Beginner

Stuben am Arlberg has great skiing for advanced and intermediate skiers, but only limited opportunities for beginners whom would be better off choosing a family friendly ski resort with more blue or green runs for beginners and a more lively après ski scene.

Boarding & Freestyle

There’s no half-pipe, no terrain park, nor any other man made features for boarders in Stuben, but if you’re sufficiently experienced to ride off-piste with a guide, Stuben is a natural roller-coaster ride for boarders, but watch out for the flat area at Albona Middle Station.

Mountain restaurants

There are two restaurants on the Albona above Stuben. The Albona Middle Berg at middle station 1840m, another mountain hut on top of the Albonagrat 2400m and good restaurants in Stuben. It’s worth skiing down to the village for lunch.

The Village

Stuben am Arlberg is small and friendly village community. It takes no more than 15 minutes to walk the length and breadth of the village and within a few days of your arrival, you’ll begin to feel recognised and appreciated, like many other loyal guests who return year after year.

Accommodation

Stuben has a good choice of reasonably priced accommodation, nearly all of which is a short walk from the ski lift. Nowhere in Stuben is far from anywhere else, except Hotel Hubertushof which is a few hundred meters uphill from the centre of the village, but popular nevertheless. Stuben hotels, pensions and apartments are generally cheaper then comparable ski accommodation in neighbouring St Anton, Lech and Zurs but there are fewer beds in resort so it pays to book early.

Restaurants & Bars

If you’re a party animal wanting full-on après ski and night life then you’ll not find it in Stuben. Mostly Stuben attracts couples, families and close knit groups of friends seeking challenging skiing and traditional Austrian hospitality.

Other Information
