Sun Peaks / Village

An attractive resort centre developed in keeping with the natural surroundings.

The current Sun Peaks village sits compactly in the cul-de-sac at the end of the valley. The benefits of starting from a blank sheet are immediately visible. The cobbled brick main street of the pretty centre is car-free and there is plenty of parking on the entry road to the village. A new build ski resort will always struggle to re-create traditional charm, but the alpine style adopted for Sun Peaks does a pretty good job in giving it a warm and cosy feel. And what it lacks in authenticity it makes up for in convenience, by the bucket-load. All facilities and activities are in, or within easy reach of, the village and it is also possible to access all three ski hills.

Resort development is now in the second phase, of a four phase masterplan and is carefully monitored, far from the “pile ‘em high” philosophy embraced elsewhere. The resort’s environmental effort to date has been recognised with an award for Environmentally Responsible Tourism and it is looking forward to a future of “sustained development”.
