Whistler’s 25 hotels include seven 5-star, eleven 4-star and six 3-star hotels, fourteen of which are in Whistler Village and that is where you should stay if you want to be nearest to the main shopping area and the nightlife. There are five hotels in the Upper Village area including the luxury Fairmont Chateau Whistler which is situated at the base of Blackcomb Mountain about a 10-minute walk from Whistler the, 10 condos and 20 townhouses.
As its name suggest Whistler North, also known as Market Place, is situated at the northern end of Whistler Village and although well served by shops it’s not as convenient as Whistler Village if you want to be close to the ski lifts, restaurants and nightlife. Creekside has 3 hotels, 3 condos and 2 townhouses and is much quieter than Whistler Village but with good lift access to Whistler Mountain.
If you come here privately, in a group or with a family, shop around before you book. Finding a room is not a problem with over 5,400 rooms. “Slopeside” properties are defined as those with less than a five-minute walk to the lifts or ski areas, but there are many more options if you wish to stay outside the village.
The choice runs from self-catering suites and condos to bed and breakfasts, two- and three-bedroom townhouses, and a good selection of hotels. For those on a budget and wanting to self cater, the standard of accommodations is still very high and a one-bedroom den unit will sleep three, but those seeking higher levels of luxury will find plenty of places to splash out in.
Some hotels are large and expensive, like the Westin Resort & Spa at the foot of Whistler Mountain, and the Fairmont Chateau Whistler over at Blackcomb, but there are cheaper well-situated hotels like Crystal Lodge and Listel Whistler Hotel, as well as smaller alternatives like the charming Chalet Louise in Village North, with just eight bedrooms.
