Whistler other information
For non-skiers or if planning a non-skiing day spend a daysnowshoeing as an alternative and peaceful way to explore some of those hard-to-access backcountry areas, go snowmobiling through dense forests up into the alpine bowls, or for a really traditional North American alternative, try dogsledding.
If you are interested in climbing—whether completely new to the sport or an experienced climber—there is an indoor climbing wall available, and ice climbing tours are also possible. New for this season is a Tube park with seven different shutes.
Elsewhere in the neighborhood you can enjoy the pool or kids’ pool, hot tub, sauna, steamroom, indoor ice skating, ice hockey, squash courts, and fitness center at the Meadows Park Sports Center. For something a little more cerebral, the Whistler Museum and Archive Society offers exhibits, information on the region, natural history and skiing. The museum also has research facilities and a gift store: www.whistlermuseum.org .
Whistler-Blackcomb is the largest resort-based retailer in North America and shopping facilities are very good. With over 200 shops there is plenty to interest non-skiers, and for skiers and riders keen on adding to their equipment there are 28 sports stores in Whistler resort.
