Tignes is readily accessible by air, rail or car. It lies in the Savoie region of the Southern Alps and is close to the large international airports of Geneva and Lyon. You can also fly to the smaller airports of Chambéry, Grenoble and St. Etienne.

If you are travelling from Britain you can catch the Eurostar from London Waterloo direct to Bourg-St-Maurice, a town only 30km (19 miles) away. Finally France has a good road infrastructure and to drive there is a realistic and popular option.

Tignes by air
The two main Airports near Tignes are Lyon (220 km/137 miles) and Geneva (170 km/105 miles). Flights to Chambéry (140 km/87 miles), Grenoble (160 km/100 miles) and St. Eienne (290km/180 miles) are less regular. Tignes by rail
A ski train from London Waterloo to Bourg-St-Maurice runs twice a week, for more detailed information visit their website at www.eurostar.co.uk

Daily TGV train services also go to Bourg-St-Maurice station and from here there are regular bus or taxi transfers. For more detailed information see www.sncf.com. The transfer time from Bourg-St-Maurice to Tignes (Val Claret) is approximately 40 minutes.

Tignes by road
The motorways in France are well maintained and, as long as your trip does not coincide with holiday periods, are usually clear. Calais to Tignes is about 950 km (591 miles) and should take around 9 hours. A toll system operates and the approximate cost of using the ‘autoroutes’ from Calais to Tignes is €50.
