Courmayeur is a charming old mountain town with narrow cobbled streets, old stone churches and a pedestrian centre. The streets come alive at the end of the skiing day as people pile into the bars along the Via Roma and saunter past the windows of delicatessens, butchers, map-makers and fashion stores. Despite the addition of a few modern buildings, it retains its charm.
