It’s sunny from mid-morning onwards, high enough to have good
snow and there are plenty of cafes on hand, with terraces. There are
also novice slopes at Antagnod, ten minutes down the valley. Gressoney
has nursery slopes at Stafal and an excellent area, served by a drag,
at Gabiet, where the snow is very sure and the terrain offers improvers
something to get their teeth into. Some of the terrain at Punta Jolanda
provides the next step up, though there are also some relatively
challenging sections too, despite the cosy, friendly feel to the place.
Down the valley at Gressoney St. Jean, there’s significant learner
activity around the Weissmatten drag lift, and also directly opposite,
just over the road, but it’s mainly aimed at children and no good for
meeting up with friends skiing the main domain. There are also limited
nursery slopes at Alagna, but they’re low and it’s hard to imagine many
people coming here to learn.
