Boarding and Freestyle

Crans-Montana is widely regarded as a good destination for boarders of all abilities with few flats and plenty of wide open and mostly uncrowded intermediate red runs for carving and easy access to a reasonable amount of off-piste at higher altitude and some good terrain jumps.

The lower runs that wind their way back to down to resort level are true blue, but narrower than the higher reaches and with early stage skiers and boarders needing more time and space to make turns it can be a bit busy on the narrow home runs back to town.

When snow conditions are favourable Crans-Montana has excellent terrain for boarders and freestyle skiers alikne including the impressive 50000m² snow park situated at La Tza in Arimona with boardercross, as well as rails, boxes, kickers and a wall ride. There’s also night skiing and boarding every Friday 19:00 – 22:00 at Cry d’Err and Verdetts.

For the second year running the Swatch TTR World Snowboard Tour came to Crans-Montana in February 2008 for the Crans-Montana CHAMPS Open by Rip Curl, keeping cat drivers and shapers busy completing construction of a new course with two Big Airs, rails a 60 metre superpipe and halfpipe with the leading athletes in freestyle skiing and snowboarding participating in the most important winter sporting event in French speaking Switzerland.
