Lift System

The latest addition to the lift system is the comfortable new 6-seater National Express chairlift opened in 2007/08.

Crans-Montana Ski Lift System
The Crans-Montana ski area breaks down into four sectors – Crans, Montana, Violettes and Aminona – each of which is adequately served by a gondola and supporting chairlifts and button lifts. The latest addition to the lift system is the comfortable new 6-seater National Express chairlift opened in 2007/08, which has halved the time taken to ride back up to the top of the National piste. There are no pull down hoods on chair lifts for protection in bad weather, because hoods are seldom needed in this sunniest of Swiss resorts.

Each of the lifts is numbered and clearly marked on the map and although the ski runs themselves are not numbered and are less well signposted away from the lift stations, it’s easy enough to navigate your way around the ski area. Skiing or boarding in the forest is prohibited in order to protect trees, fauna and wildlife.

Crans-Montana Ski Lift Tickets

A hands free electronic ski lift pass system is in operation (deposit CHF5) for lift passes of more than 2-days duration, otherwise day tickets are issued if skiing just 1-2 days. For the hands free cards a photo is necessary and can be obtained at the lift ticket offices.

A 6-day lift pass costs around CHF 300 for adults, CHF 260 for seniors (men 65+ women 64+) and teenagers (16-19) and CHF180 for juniors (6-15). If skiing more than one resort in the Valais region you can buy a personal prepaid Valais Ski Card which is valid for up to two years in more than 40 Valais ski resorts. Day tickets are available at reduced prices for non-skiers wanting to access the lift system.

Crans-Montana Car Parking near Ski Lifts
There are Pay Car Parks close to the main lift stations in Crans, Montana and Violettes (cost CHF 5 for 4 hours) and Free Car Parking next to the lift station in Aminona.

Ski lockers
If you do not have a car and you do not want to carry skis and wear ski boots between hotel and the lifts, then you can rent a ski locker for 1-week, 2-weeks or longer period if necessary, which costs about CHF30 per week.
