The Alf Engen Ski School, named after Alta’s founder and located at the
Albion base, has 100 full-time certified instructors. There are adult
and children's ski programs, and group classes are limited to eight
people. The minimum age for group lessons is four years. Children under
four must have private instruction. Instructors follow a nine-level
skill progression that makes it easy to choose the right class. Levels
1–3 follow green trails, 4–6 blue trails, and 7–9 black trails. The ski
school also teaches deep snow technique to a high standard.
