Kirkwood

Even with the emphasis on powder, the resort can still offer innovative First-Time Skier and Snowboarding programs on its wide, gentle slopes.

Mighty Mountain Children’s Center makes skiing more convenient for families and fun for kids, and is located at the Timber Creek Area. The other ski school is the Ski & Board School. The main office is located across from the Red Cliffs Day Lodge.

Lessons may also be purchased at the ski school meeting places on the mountain (at base of chairs #5 and #6 and at base of chairs #7 and #9) and at rental stores (Timber Creek Lodge, Red Cliffs Lodge). Schools start at 10:00 am, Noon, and 2:00 pm for adult lessons, and 10:00 am and 1:30 pm for Children’s Ski School (arrive approximately one hour early for registration and for rental equipment.) Maximum class size is six to eight adults; minimum age for children is four for skiing and seven for snowboarding.

The Ski and Snowboard School act as guides either one-on-one, or in their Mountain Adventure package, and for the fifth consecutive season, the North American Ski Training Center (N.A.S.T.C.) will be based at Kirkwood. N.A.S.T.C. is a multi-day, total immersion, performance ski school for advanced intermediate, advanced, and expert skiers, with special clinics offered in backcountry skills and avalanche awareness. Camps include seminars, video analysis, meals, lift tickets, and instruction. Call 530-582-4772 for camp information and reservations
