The Canyons

The White Pine Cross-Country Ski Area has 11 miles (18 km) of groomed track for all abilities. Lessons are available (435-615-5858). Or there are moonlit sleigh rides from Viking Yurt near Red Pine Lodge (435-615-9878). In Park City there are bobsled, rocket rides and aerial demos at Utah Olympic Park (435-658-4200).

For shopping try one of the factory outlet stores like Tommy Hilfiger, Levi and Banana Republic in Park City (435-645-7078). Check the website at www.thecanyons.com for details of annual events. The Sundance Film Festival takes place in Park City every January, and attracts the cream of the movie industry. Also annually is the “pond-skimming” and reggae show (early April). People sign up to try and glide across a pond of water on their skis or snowboard, usually wearing a crazy costume. The ones who make it across the pond are then judged upon their costume and win a prize.
