Vail

There is a wide range of accommodations, but, essentially, Vail caters to the carriage trade.

Vail is glitzy. There is the usual wide range of accommodations, the kind available in every major ski resort but, essentially, Vail caters to the carriage trade. The top hotels are the Lodge at Vail and the Sonnenalp Resort—note that touch of Austria—and the Roost and the Apex Lodge Holiday Inn. The Lionshead Inn is popular and close to the Eagle Bahn gondola, while the Vail Cascades Resort and Spa is great fun with lots of sports facilities.

Where to stay is a matter of personal choice and depth of pocket but if you are splashing out—and why not, it’s a vacation—then either the Sonnenalp Resort or the Lodge at Vail would be recommended. On the condo front, the Raquet Club has plenty of well equipped spaces but they are 15 minutes by shuttle bus from the main action. Shop around, for the choice is wide—whether your pocket is Economy (at US$150–300) or premium hotel (up to US$500).

Vail Valley provides guests with spacious hotels, quaint bed and breakfast inns, and comfortable homes and condominiums for every taste and budget. And the quality of lodging continues to improve as properties upgrade and enhance what they currently offer to provide guests with more value for their vacation dollar. The list of lodgings properties goes on and on.
