Sonne Lifestyle Resort Hotel

The impressive 4-star Superior Sonne Lifestyle Resort in Mellau combines the best of Bregenzerwald culture, modern architecture, stylish interior design and international expertise of creator Klaus Riesler.

Opened in December 2008 to critical acclaim, the Sonne Lifestyle Resort's focus is rest, relaxation and wellness as well as winter sports and all year round outdoor activities. The hotel's stylish interior design is a fashionable combination of straight line architecture, natural materials including light and dark local wood, high tech lighting, stainless steel fittings and a mix of bold and neutral fabrics. The end result which is spacious, warm and welcoming includes innovative use of images recording the history of the hotel "zur Sonne" and founder Margaret Bischofberger.

Designer Rooms

Sonne Lifestyle Resort guest accommodation includes 38 large superior design rooms (35m²) equipped with all mod cons including flat screen satellite TV and free high speed Internet access and 8 luxury Penthouse Design Suites (45 m²). All rooms have en suite bathrooms with separate WC, east or west facing balcony for morning or afternoon sun, a pull-out single sofa bed for a third person and are non-smoking. Many rooms have family-friendly connecting doors and two rooms are fully equipped for disabled guests. All rooms are available with queen size bed or twin-bed configuration and all bed materials are natural fibre and therefore suitable for persons suffering from allergies. Each of the Penthouse Design Suites have their own steam bath, more living space and staying in a Penthouse Design Suite grants you access to the Penthouse Lounge where you will find even more amenities including espresso coffee machine, cocktail bar, newspapers and magazines.

Gastronomic pleasures

Sonne Lifestyle Resort guests enjoy special ¾ board terms and a choice of two à la carte restaurants. Culinary delights include a sumptuous breakfast buffet with hot and cold dishes including eggs and a variety of omelettes cooked to order, freshly baked bread and homemade marmalade; late luncheon buffet with piping hot dishes, soup, salads and sandwiches and 5 course gourmet dinner with a large variety of local and international delicacies and selected fine wines.

Wintersports

There's good skiing at Mellau and lots more nearby in Damuls. A new gondola planned to open in December 2009 will connect both ski areas, making Damuls-Mellau the biggest ski area (89km) in Bregenzerwald with 23 ski lifts, 89 km of marked ski pistes and ski routes and 14 mountain restaurants. There's 64km more piste skiing and good off-piste skiing nearby at Warth-Schröcken - easy to get to by car or ski bus in around 30 minutes - plus good ski touring in the area including easy ski touring on the Ragazerblanken, the Ridge tour on the Sünserspitze and more difficult ski touring from Mellau to Kanisfluh with stunning views across Lake Constance.

Après ski at Sonne Lifestyle Resort is a quiet and sophisticated, including the Piano Bar & Lounge, the Havana Club, the Gallery, well equipped library, inviting lobby area and, next to the main hotel complex, the original Gasthaus zur Sonne which has been completely rebuilt using new materials in traditional style including Wàlderstube bar restaurant and Cafe Bistro.
