Hotel Les Grands Montets was acquired by its present owners, Stella and Alain Blanc-Paque, in 1999 since when it has been continually improved year after year. A member of "Hotels et Chalets de tradition" group, this excellent non-smoking hotel offers good value bed & breakfast accommodation and attracts a discerning clientele, mostly from France and England.

Cosy atmosphere and comfortable accommodation

The hotel's chalet-like exterior and tastefully refurbished interior is constructed mostly from natural materials and blends the ambiance of reclaimed old pine walls and timber ceilings with old stone, traditional Alpine decor and alpine memorabilia finished off with pretty soft furnishings. Guests can relax in the impressive lounge area with its comfy sofas, chairs surrounding an open wood burning fireplace or take a seat in the cosy residents bar (open until 11pm).

Hotel Les Grands Montets has 45 bedrooms and 3 suites each of which is individually styled and furnished in keeping with the theme of this stylish and romantic mountain hideaway. All rooms have modern en suite facilities, TV, mini bar and glass sliding doors opening on to a private balcony. South facing rooms get the most sun and enjoy views towards Mont Blanc - Europe's highest mountain.

After a hard day on the mountain guests can relax in the hotels indoor swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, sauna, steam room or work out in the gym. The swimming pool is open from 7:30am with other facilities available from 4pm and until 8pm. There's also a massage room and massages can be pre-booked at reception. Eating out in the Chamonix Valley

Hotel Les Grands Montets is a bed & breakfast hotel. Continental breakfast is served between 7:30-10am in the ground floor restaurant and children's dinners are available during school holiday periods in winter, but adults eat out in the evening. There are about a dozen restaurants and bars nearby in the village of Argentière which is within 400-600m walking distance from the hotel and plenty more restaurants to choose from in Chamonix, Les Praz and Vallorcine. There are copies of restaurant menus in the hotel and the staff on reception will be pleased to help you make a booking and to offer recommendations.

Skiing and boarding in Chamonix Mont Blanc

There is excellent skiing and boarding locally on the Grands Montets and the hotel's proximity to the Grands Montets cable car - just a 250 metres level walk - means you can be in pole position to lead the early morning rush. The hotel has its own ski room including lockers and boot warming facilities. Ski passes are on sale at the reception. There's plenty more skiing nearby at La Tours, Le Brevant, La Flegère and Les Houches and Chamonix Mont Blanc is legendary for off-piste including the renowned Vallée Blanche - one of the most famous ski descents in the world - which is a popular guided route later in the season. And it's just a 40 minute drive from Argentière via Mont Blanc Tunnel Courmayeur on the Italian side of Mont Blanc which is also worth visiting if time permits, but you'll need a car.

Getting to Hotel Les Grands Montets

Hotel Les Grands Montets is situated in the village of Argentière, which is about a 10 minute drive from the centre of Chamonix. It's approximately 1 hour and 15 minute drive from Geneva airport and there are numerous transfer taxi companies and bus services, which you can book online. Unless you prefer to travel by taxi or public transport, it's worth renting a car which will be convenient for exploring different ski areas along the valley and visiting Chamonix at night. The hotel has outdoor and underground car parking which can be pre-booked when you make your reservation.
