Ski Juwel’s owners are investing significant amounts of money in their Tirolean resort in time for the 2017/18 winter season. Attractions to look forward to include a new 8-seater gondola ride, a panoramic Alpine coaster, snow parks and kids’ clubs, hiking and tobogganing paths through the forest, and Wi-Fi hotspots across the resort. These investments will cement Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau’s place as Austria’s most exciting and modern ski retreat.

A resort fit for the future

Ski Juwel’s investments for the 2017/18 winter season will ensure that the resort retains its place as Austria’s best ski resort. The investments are going to make life for skiers easier, more enjoyable, and more suited to the 21st century.

September 2017 will see the opening of a state-of-the-art Alpbachtaler Lauser-Sauser alpine coaster in Alpbach, a modern 1km lift up to the Kohlgruben lift. The coaster will not just be for skiers, it is sure to be an exciting venture for the whole family – a great off piste attraction.

In December 2017, a new 8-seater gondola ride will open to guests. The Schatzbergbahn will span 4km and will be capable of carrying 2,650 skiers over the unspoilt scenery between Auffach and Schatzberg. The 18 million Euro gondola will boast barrier-free access, indoor ticket desks, and a large sports shop selling ski gear and woollens. These modern lifts will make life easier and more comfortable for guests.

Ski Juwel is not just for those who love skiing, it also perfect for its extensive hiking and tobogganing routes. In the winter months the routes pass by the scenic towns of Alpbach and Niederau, through lush valleys, historic Alpine villages, and up hills and mountains across Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau.

And to top it all off, Wi-Fi hotspots are being introduced across the resort – including on the ski lifts!

A resort suitable for the whole family

    Ski Juwel Family Skiing 660x260

One of the major selling points of Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau is its suitability for the whole family, so the selection of snow parks on the Schatzberg and Wiedersberger Horn only add to the wide selection to choose from. The Funslope and Family Park Alpbachtal is great for the kids, and the Reither Kogel for those times when you want to keep skiing and snowboarding after sunset on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau’s youngest guests love the dragon club and its very own mascot Bobo the penguin. English speaking instructors who are trained to teach kids on special children’s areas on the slopes ensure that children are safe while the adults enjoy the more difficult skiing.

There are family passes and discounts available for the ski lifts, and children under 6 can use the lifts for free. One-day passes for families start at EUR 41 for adults, EUR 33 for youths, and EUR 20.50 for under 16s (low season).

    An all-round resort

A major benefit of Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau’s Tirolean location is its proximity to several accommodation and dining options in Alpbach and Niederau; there is something sure to suit regardless of where on the slopes guests are enjoying the slopes.

    Dining

    Ski Juwel Mountain Restaurant 660x260

There are four restaurants to discover on the Wiedersbergerhorn in Alpbach, including Hornalm which is located next to Hornlift 2000 ski lift, and offers panoramic views over the Ziller and Alpbach Valleys – a perfect place to enjoy a warming post-ski hot chocolate. Gasthof Hornboden and Dauerstoa Alm, situated next to the Wiedersberghorn top station, both offer a sunny terrace and table service.

On the Reither Kogel in Reith im Alpbachtal, there are two delectable dining establishments worthy of sampling. The Liftcafe Heisn is situated next door to the mountain and ski lift Reitherkogelbahn and Almstüberl Gschwendt downslope by the family piste. Both serve produce from their own farms.

The Schatzbergbahn in Auffach is more rustic than the modern areas of the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau resort, with Gipfö Hit offering a traditional dining experience in a historic wooden chalet at the top of the Schatzberg Mountain, some 1,898m high. Brezen soups, salads, and schnitzels are the talk of the town. Newly renovated: Schatzbergalm (next to the top station of the Schatzbergbahn).

On the Markbachjochbahn Niederau there are 4 restaurants to choose from, including breakfast on the Norderbergalm, at the top of Markbachjoch Mountain, with spectacular views across the untouched snow-capped pine forests of Tirol.
