Arnie Wilson wins Polar Bear Award

Arnie Wilson, editor of the Ski Club of Great Britain’s Ski + Board magazine and long time contributor to, has been awarded the ‘Polar Bear Award’ for ‘outstanding contribution to snowsports’.

Among Arnie's many achievements are skiing all 37 states with ski slopes in the US and in 1994 skiing every day for a year following the snow around the world. This achievment is recognised by the Guinness Book of Records.

To date Arnie has skied around 700 resorts worldwide.

The award ceremony was hosted by actor, comedian and keen snowboarder Marcus Brigstocke and the awards were judged by an 18-strong panel of ski and snowboard experts and by public vote.

Congratulating the winners, Marcus said, "It's been a great night here at Earls Court, I hope this becomes an annual fixture in the snowsports calendar as it's important to celebrate excellence in an industry which is so full of energy and promise."
