Getting to Hintertux

Hintertux is easily accessible from a number of international airports, and can be reached in 90 minutes from Innsbruck airport. The 90km journey can most easily be done by car or via an airport transfer service, but there is also a train service to nearby Mayrhofen with onward bus and taxi connections to Hintertux.

Nearest Airports to Hintertux

Innsbruck is the nearest airport to Hintertux (93km), with a transfer time of roughly an hour-and-a-half from airport to resort. Salzburg (190km) and Munich (215km) are also popular options, and can be reached in under two-and-a-half hours. The journey to Hintertux is the same as to Mayrhofen, albeit with an extra 25 minute drive up the winding roads to the end of the Tux valley.

Getting to Hintertux by Rail & Bus

It is an easy train journey from nearest airports (Innsbruck, Salzburg or Munich) to Mayrhofen, and there is a local bus service which offers hourly connections from Mayrhofen rail station to Hintertux at the far end of the Tux valley. Take an inter city express from any of the abovementioned airports as far as Jenbach in Tirol, changing at Jenbach for the regional Zillertal rail service to Mayrhofen then bus or taxi to Hintertux. Driving to Hintertux

Hintertux is particularly easy to reach by car, particularly from Innsbruck. Visitors driving to Hintertux should take the Inntal autobahn from any of the major nearby airports and exit onto the B169 for Zillertal, which will take you to Mayrhofen. From there, it is a further 25 minutes to Hintertux, up the winding L6 road through the Tux valley.
