Ellmau is one of the larger villages that comprise the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental region of the Austrian Tirol. The village sits at 820m and has easy access to 280km of pistes.
As the second village to Soll in the SkiWelt, Ellmau is large enough to cater for most skier needs and yet small enough to retain a friendly village atmosphere. There is a substantial amount of accommodation and Ellmau is popular with the British, the Dutch and, of course, the locals. One visit is enough to understand why visitors return year after year.
The range of the SkiWelt is substantial and it's possible to cover many kms in one day. The majority of this is on blue and red pistes making the SkiWelt and Ellmau the perfect destination for intermediate skiers. There are excellent facilities for beginners and sufficient interest for advanced skiers if travelling in a mixed ability group.
One word of caution, there is not yet a bus service between the villages so make sure you leave enough time to get back to your particular village before the lifts close.
