With a peak altitude of 3,250m, the Hintertux Glacier is one of the highest ski areas in Austria, offering all-year round skiing within an hour and a half of Innsbruck. There are 60km of pistes on the glacier, and plenty more off-piste opportunities in good conditions.
The resort is peacefully located at the end of the Tux Valley, with little more than a cluster of hotels either side of the road up to the glacier. It is a 15 minute drive to the nearest town - and 25 minutes to its busier neighbour of Mayrhofen.
In addition to the relatively small offering of pistes on the glacier, skiers can make the 10 minute journey on the ski bus to the lifts to the Zillertal 3000 ski area, which gives access to a further 196km of pistes in the area connected with Mayrhofen.
